Description
A460 Industrial AM System for Large Format High-Performance Manufacturing
The Orion A460 Large Format Industrial Additive Manufacturing System is a next-generation solution designed for producing oversized, high-strength polymer components with exceptional precision and durability. Built for industrial environments, the A460 enables manufacturers to transition from traditional manufacturing methods to advanced additive production without compromising on strength, density, or reliability.
At the heart of the A460 system is Orion AM’s patent-pending Thermal Radiation Heating technology, which ensures uniform thermal energy distribution throughout the printing process. This advanced heating mechanism allows printed layers to fuse at a molecular level, producing parts with mechanical strength that can match or even surpass injection-molded components. The system operates at temperatures exceeding 400°C, enabling optimal processing of ultra-high-performance thermoplastics.
The A460 is specifically engineered for demanding applications requiring large-format production. With a massive build volume of 460 mm diameter and 500 mm height, and multiple usable build geometries, it supports the production of complex, oversized parts without the need for assembly. This significantly reduces manufacturing time, cost, and structural weak points in final components.
The system is compatible with a wide range of high-performance engineering polymers including PEEK, PEKK, PEI (ULTEM), PPSU, PI, PC, and PA materials, making it ideal for aerospace, automotive, defense, and advanced engineering applications. Its high-temperature extrusion system (up to 500°C), heated chamber (up to 315°C), and layer heating capability (up to 400°C) ensure excellent interlayer adhesion and dimensional stability.
In addition to performance, the A460 focuses on operational efficiency. It delivers up to 8x faster production speeds compared to conventional additive manufacturing systems while reducing operating costs and material waste significantly. The fully automatic leveling system, filament drying capability, and integrated sensors enhance reliability and reduce manual intervention.
Designed with industrial usability in mind, the system features a 7-inch touchscreen interface and full connectivity options including WiFi, Ethernet, and USB. The robust Delta 3-axis motion system ensures stable, precise printing even at large scales.
The Orion A460 is more than a 3D printer; it is a complete industrial manufacturing platform built to redefine how large-scale, high-performance components are designed and produced.
